An update on our move to Texas

Karen and I made another trip to Dallas last week. We looked at dozens of model houses and floorplans and various cities and communities. We ended back up in Wylie Texas, North East of Dallas.

We put money down and signed a contract to build a new home. It is scheduled to be complete by the end of September. The address will be 3211 Raegenea Dr, Wylie Texas, 75002

You can manipulate the interactive floorplan to see what we are building. We are adding the third car garage and the study. We are getting elevation 'B' and will probably add some stone to the front. Similar to the model.

The house looks bigger from the outside elevation than it is. The house has 3000 heated square feet but because of the two story family room and foyer it makes the house look bigger.

The house is nice, in a nice community, Creekside Estates, with a park and trails. The lot has trees, not very common in new commities in Dallas. And the lot also has a stream through the back half. The back half of the lot is on the 100 yr flood plane and cannot be built on so it will stay "wooded" and provides a nice privacy buffer between us and our back door neighbors.

Karen's Parents flew out to Texas this past week. They ended up buying a house in nearby Fairview Texas. Their new house is in an "Active Adult" community. Which pretty much described Howard and Nancy. Their lot backs up to the golf course. They have tennis and all kinds of social clubs and activities. They bought the model from the builder. So while it is a brand new house they don't have to wait 6 months like we do. In fact Howard is flying down next Thursday to close on the sale.

On the other hand we will have to rent an apartment or somthing between August and October so the kids can start school in Wylie.

We are putting our existing house on the market on Monday. That means a week of cleaning and painting and yardwork and..... Keep your fingers crossed eh?
